Eligibility/Age Limit

Membership in The First Tee of Tuscaloosa County is open to young people ages 6 to 17.

Registration Deadline

Classes are filled on a first-come basis. Please be prompt with your registration as classes are limited to 30 students if the desired class/league is full, we will try to accommodate your child in another class. Additional classes may be added if there is sufficient need. Please contact our office for the most current class information.

Membership Privileges/Membership Card

Members receive quality golf and life skills instruction, discounted range balls and green fees, complimentary equipment use and more. The First Tee staff reserves the right to suspend membership privileges and may be suspended at anytime due to a lack of student attendance, participation or for disciplinary reasons. All participants will receive a The First Tee Membership Card. This card is used to encourage responsibility, and must be presented to receive discounted range balls and green fees. Without the Presentation of The First Tee membership card, public rates will apply. Membership cards will also be used to communicate student progress toward the various certification levels. Lost or badly damaged cards will be replaced for a fee of $5.00. Students will receive a new membership card upon graduation to the next program level.

Absences

Students are expected to attend classes regularly. Students missing more than two (2) classes without an excused absence may be placed on inactive status and membership privileges withdrawn.

Make-up Classes/Supervised Practice

Instructors are available during supervised practice time, to assist students that need additional help with golf or life skills, or that have missed classes and would like to catch up on missed information. Students are asked to call to confirm their attendance in the desired supervised practice session.

Permission to Leave the Premises

ALL students are expected to remain on The First Tee premises at all times. If parents would like to give students permission to leave with other parents or to go to a local restaurant, the other centers, etc, a Permission Form must be signed and left on file at the front desk. Authorized students are asked to sign out in the logbook when leaving the premises.

Inclement Weather

Classes are not always cancelled on rainy days. In the event of rain, ice, or snow, please call to confirm class cancellations

Driving range closes at dark (After Daylight Savings Time)

Dress Code

The recommended dress code is a collared shirt and knee length shorts or slacks (no denim) at all times for everyone on the practice facility and golf course. Spike-less golf shoes or tennis shoes are appropriate. Tank tops, t-shirts, sweatpants, jeans, cut-offs, spandex or gym shorts, doo-rags , bandanas, and flip flops will not be permitted. Caps and visors must be worn properly at all times. Male patrons will be expected to wear their shirt tails tucked inside their pants and remove their caps upon entering the building.

Safety Rules

  • Pay Attention at all times
  • Do not swing a golf club if someone is in your safety zone.
  • Do not swing golf clubs inside the Pro Shop.
  • Do not hit balls at the range picker.
  • Do not swing a club or hit balls toward anyone.
  • No Running, yelling, throwing, bad language, or horseplay will be tolerated.
  • Do not collect balls on the driving range.
  • Head to the club house immediately when the lightning alarm sounds, but do not run!
  • No students are allowed to drive golf carts, unless they are 16 years old and have a drivers license.
  • Sign in at the front desk before playing a round of golf, in the event of an emergency, we’ll know who’s on the course.
Repeated violations of safety rules, code of conduct and program policies will result in disciplinary action or suspension.
