Michael is originally from Williamsport, Pennsylvania. He earned his Undergraduate Degree in Behavioral Psychology from West Virginia University. In 2002, Michael began working at Ol’Colony Golf Complex as a staff member and later as a PGA Assistant Golf Professional. In 2004, he left Ol’Colony to earn his Masters Degree in Kinesiology/Sports Psychology from Georgia Southern University where he graduated first in his program and was published in the International Journal of Fitness. Michael was twice awarded Graduate Assistant of the year and received an award for Teaching Excellence from the Georgia Southern School of Public Health. He is currently the Executive Director of The First Tee of Tuscaloosa where he is a Certified Coach and a Recognized Executive Director through The First Tee Organization. Along with his duties with The First Tee of Tuscaloosa Chapter, he is employed as an adjunct instructor for the University of Alabama, and a Performance Consultant.

ANDY SMELLEY PROGRAM DIRECTOR 205-562-3201 [email protected]

After spending over 25 years in the automotive industry and 20 years teaching automotive technology with the Tuscaloosa County School System, Andy retired. While working as a teacher, he was a volunteer for The First Tee Program for five years before becoming the Program Director after he retired in 2014. Andy has been an avid gofer for 35 years.

Jan taught in the Tuscaloosa County School system for 27 years before retiring.  She was a member of her high school golf team in Cullman, Alabama.  Jan is a graduate of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.  She is an active member of ASAHPERD, the Alabama State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance.

Bradley was born and raised in Huntsville, Alabama.  He attended Grissom High School and later the University of Alabama, where he studied journalism.  Brad has spent the majority of his young career in the customer service industry, where he excelled, and has found his true passion in growing the game of golf.  Brad joined Ol’ Colony in April of 2014 as an Assistant Golf Professional, became a member of the PGA with aspirations of becoming a Class A PGA Professional.
